Online & Unattended Mastering
I f you are unable to attend the mastering session then there are two options available to you at Fluid Mastering. Click on one of our Online Mastering links to access our full online service, where you can upload tracks from your desktop, work out your costs on a per-track basis, and even download the final master direct from our website with absolutely no mucking about.
On the other hand if you’d prefer the human touch and would like to discuss a package deal with us rather than paying by the track, and maybe have a chat on the phone or via e-mail so that we can go into some detail with you about your specific needs then our unattended mastering service is for you.
It’s just like booking an attended mastering session apart from the fact that you won’t be there, and it starts with a phone call or email rather than everything being done through the website.
Stem Mastering
The engineers at Fluid Mastering are very experienced with Stem Mastering, so this may be an option for you if you wish for us to have that bit more control during the mastering process.
Stem mastering is usually charged by the hour at the same rate as for straight stereo, but it can take longer so bear that in mind when you book and please remember that it should be treated as a mastering session NOT a mixing session! We can help to enhance the mix, and maybe sort out bottom end issues for you – but if your mix just isn’t working then don’t expect to fix it in a stem mastering session.
If you’d like us to quote you a fixed rate for unattended stem mastering give us a call so that we can discuss the job in detail.

Mastering For iTunes
Fluid Mastering was the second studio in the UK to be recognised by Apple as an accredited supplier of masters for their Mastered For iTunes initiative, now commonly referred to as “MFiT”.
Downloaded music can now come in many forms, with Audiophile HD downloads available in PCM or FLAC format, whilst mainstream distributors still sell mainly MP3 or AAC files. Most of us are familiar with the term MP3 but you may not be aware that if you buy music from the iTunes store it comes to you in a similar although arguably superior format called AAC (standing for Advanced Audio Coding and denoted by the file extension .m4a)
Mastered For iTunes is in effect a new standard for digital releases in the AAC format, which seeks to get the best possible results out of Apple’s AAC encoding processes by using the highest available resolution in the master, whilst avoiding certain extremes which could produce undesirable side-effects in the encoded file.
Whilst you can put anything into a WAV file for download, an MFiT master has been checked and if necessary modified to ensure it meets Apple’s specifications as regards inter-sample clipping and sound quality.
Should you wish to have your music available in this format, to be sold in the iTunes store in the Mastered For iTunes section, you should ideally record and mix your project at 96 kHz and when you come for mastering let us know that you want an MFiT master.
